Walter E. Farr
Walter E. Farr, a graduate of Houston High School (Houston, MS) received a degree in Chemistry, along with a minor in Chemical Engineering, from Mississippi State University in 1960. Farr began his career with Wesson ConAgra, (Memphis, TN), serving as a chemist and later as a Refinery Superintendent. Discovering an interest in grain milling, edible fats, and oil processing, Farr went on to work with ADM (Decatur, IL), Anderson Clayton & Company (Houston, TX), Kraft General Foods (Memphis, TN), Owenboro Grain Company (Owensboro, KY), and DeSmet Ballestra (Atlanta, GA).
In 2003, Farr retired from industry and founded his own company: The Farr Group of Companies, Inc., composed of Farr Research International, The Farr Mixing Company, Walter E. Farr & Associates, and Farr Technologies for Biofuels, LLC.
Over the last 10 years, Farr has developed many new technologies for processing fats and oils, and biofuels, setting the standard for how new facilities should be built for the next several decades.Recently completed plants he has designed and built are located in Monterrey , Mexico and Alexandria, Egypt.
He has authored several books and he is called on to speak at many significant conferences on oil processing worldwide.
Walter and Sue Farr reside in Olive Branch, MS.
